| Marlene Dumas |
Marlene Dumas is a professional artist and a painter both using some of the concepts of postmodern art as well as contemporary. She was born in South Africa on August 3 year 1953 however she lives in Amsterdam and works there as well. As I observed most of her artworks they consisted of dark, sexual, and funeral meanings. She embraced the physiological value and human bodies in her art as most of them are in fact children boys, girls and adult women. I choose to research her because her paintings are disturbing and would immediately capture attention if displayed. Most of the people she paints are bent over with no sign of clothes only their private areas as display. The other common set of people she paints are funeral looking faces and children standing bare. Therefore Marlene Dumas is someone mysterious who uses the human anatomy to express identity and death.
