The last supper appropriation

In this digital drawing we can immediately identify two very well grounded postmodern strategies. Religiously this was a drawing by daVichi over the last supper in the bible. According to Christianity this was the supper before Jesus was crucified and all of our sins were forgiven. However this artist incorporates, to me, something rather comical. This picture shows Jesus as a DJ with a Mac mixing music. People who do not know the bible would think this is somewhat of Socrates time and how work done by our ancestors has influenced what we do today. For people who do know what the bible depicts this would be considered blasphemous because of the actions Jesus is doing and how it is being made fun of even though it is very important for them. One of the postmodern strategies used in this drawing is appropriation. Wijeee used a very old painting, also very famous, and made it his own by incorporation a Music mixer a Mac and the many stereos in the picture things that did not exsist back then. Yet another example would be postmodern juxtaposition because of the clear comparison of both objects in the drawing. The unity and realism among people make it seem original however we know that it is not. Juxtaposition can also refer to a huge opposing comparison of something sophisticated like a DJ compared to something sacred like Jesus. Both elements in this picture boggles your mind and makes me want to laugh.

P.S Jesus just mixed a major cool song and that is why everyone looks so surprised! XD
