The DaDa MoVeMenT: Mono Lisa

The Dada movement was about a revolution that came mainly about because artists were tired of the same subjects or mediums used. To begin with this picture is of course the famous Mona Lisa and has a great importance to the world back then as well as today. The Mona Lisa's smile and her mystery was and is still a mystery. However this artist interprets her by ridiculing her face. By adding the mustache he makes fun of her and probably inferring something pertain to her gender. I would guess that he is trying to infer to her gender and how women in society are not as lucky or given the same opportunity as men. A man in the portrait would be more reasonable to be recognized as important and it is surprising that a portrait of a woman would be considered so highly . To sum it all up an art revolution was what was created and thus ignited a different way of viewing things for all.
